MIGHTY NO.9, Megaman's Latest Incarnation Needs You!

This was the news announced at this year's PAX(Penny Arcade eXpo), Keiji Inafune, the man responsible for Megaman, thatthe name for his next project would be Mighty No.9. The game is currently seeking support on Kickstarter.



PAX, is a gaming festival held in Seattle, Boston and Melbourne, Australia. This year its held from August 30 to September 2, 2013. Kickstarter is a site that helps creator fund their own creative projects, in this case, it would fund the next Megaman game, Mighty No.9.

While Mighty No.9 has no direct relation to the original Megaman, he has the same design and feel of the original Megaman. As per their Kickstarter : "Mighty No. 9 is an all-new Japanese side-scrolling action game that takes thebest aspects of the 8- and 16-bit era classics you know and love, and transforms them with modern tech, fresh mechanics, and fan input into something fresh and amazing!"



Since Capcom had cancelled the Megaman series, its creator Keiji Inafune, decided to quit and start his own game company, Comcept. For Mighty No.9 he would be working with people who have been developing Japanese games for years. Game Design would be handled by Naoya Tomita (part of the original Mega Man team and has designed Cutman, Gutsman to name a few) , Lead Character Design is Kimo Kimo (worked on characters for Street Fighter and Darkstalkers 3, Red Earth and The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap and other famous people gaming that were mentioned on the Kickstarter page.



In Mighty No.9, you get to play as Beck, the 9th in line of powerful robots who got infected by a computer virus that has caused mechanized creatures to go berserk. Like the original Mega Man game, Might No.9 uses the same concept that steals enemies abilities to take down other Mighty Number robots and save the day.

As of funding, Mighty No.9 is being developed for the PC and would have gamepad support. Mighty No.9 would be available through Steam downloads and DRM-free distribution methods. Availability for other platforms like game consoles ,Mac and Linux are also being considered depending if the funding could afford via stretch goals. If the said funding would be reached, people who funded Mighty No.9, the fans, you, will be allowed to select which version of the game you would like to receive. Mighty No.9 is targeted to be released by spring 2015.



As of this writing, Mighty No.9 had reached $1,384,654 pledges with an original goal of $900,000. You could learn more and help fund Mighty No.9 on their .
