An epic story telling the tale of a boy who is linked throughout his life to this specific war, the Holy Grail War. Shirou Emiya is the main character of this story and a he has a small trace of magic in him. Shirou calls forth Saber, his servant, to aide him in a time of need (which I won't spoil for you, this happens in this first episode.) and she comes out with an invisible sword. All in all she is totally bad ass and saves him in time.
This whole war is brought on so that one of seven magus can obtain the Holy Grail and make their one wish, to either change to world or set it in destruction. This sole wish is completely left up to the magus. Each magus can only call upon one servant and each servant ranges from weapons and abilities.
This anime series was completely entertaining and worth watching. There was so much action and background information on every single magus and servant that I thought the anime did the manga justice. There is also a prequel to this series called Fate/Zero, which is how the war that changed young Shirou's life, but also lead him to his adopted father who was in that same Holy Grail War.
Thanks again for reading my anime review. I love anime, let me know what your favourite part of this series is or if you have any new anime recommendations. Until next time folks....
